The Rainbow after the Rain

There are some things I really dislike about living in New Zealand.
1) It's at the end of the earth
2) It costs a kabillion bucks to travel anywhere else
3) It takes a kabillion hours to travel anywhere else
4) We have a funny accent

Today though, I'm pretty proud of it
We've legalised same sex marriage! Finally! And we're only about the 12th country to do so.
Only fitting since we were the first in the world to give women the vote

Now THAT'S a country with a bit of spunk!

A Poem

Hatred was at work in Boston
when unknown identities
set up some bombs on Patriots day
and blew up the land of the free

The people were scared, maimed and bleeding
others could not be saved
the president says justice will come
to those who threatened the home of the brave

And now the people are standing together
and remembering those who lost lives
looking for strength in the star spangled banner
and sending prayers to the star spangled skies.
